OD WANTS us to talk to not only Him, when receiving our salvation, but also to talk to someone else anyone else! 

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom. 10:9-10

Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Matt. 10:32

Making a confession of our faith to others cements within us the decision we've made.  Until we confess Him to others, our decision's merely ours; when we tell someone else of our decision we take a stand for what we've done we become known as a child of God.

And it's also a requirement of God.  Jesus said,      

If ye love Me, keep My commandments.

John 14:15
